Report of Director – Environment is attached.

Minutes:

The Committee considered a report of the Director – Environment, Paul Barton, presented by the Licensing Manager, Joanne Brockley, and the Public Protection Officer, Gillian Littlehales, which advised the Committee of an incident that had involved a licenced Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Vehicle Driver.

The Committee was advised that on 27 January 2024, the driver had been involved in an altercation with a number of people, to which Greater Manchester Police had been required to attend.

The Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Vehicle Driver and his representative attended the meeting and answered questions of the Committee.

In reaching its decision, the Committee took into account all evidence and representations provided, the circumstances surrounding the incident and all relevant guidelines.

Resolved: The Committee revokes the driver’s licence to drive Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Vehicles, as it does not consider the driver to be a fit and proper person to hold such a licence.

(Councillors Crosby and Talbot left the meeting during the consideration of this item and therefore did not take part in the vote on the item).
