The minutes of the meeting held on 16 December 2019 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

The Committee is asked to consider whether by resolution to exclude the public from the meeting during consideration of the items of business marked with an ‘E’ reference because of the possibility of the disclosure of exempt information.

Resolved: That the public is excluded from the meeting when the Cabinet discusses the following item for the reason set out below:-

The Chairman has been asked to agree to this item being considered as a matter of urgency, the special circumstances being the need to appoint the Director of Children's Services at the earliest opportunity

The Assistant Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Lisa Selby submitted a report which outlined the outcome of the interview process which had been carried out for the selection of a new Director of Children’s Services and to ask the Committee to determine whether a recommended appointable candidate could be identified.

The report set out the process that had been followed in line with the Council’s Officer Employment Procedure Rules and of the need to allow for an Executive challenge period, should an appointable candidate be identified.

Resolved:  The Committee:-

(1)          notes the outcome of the interview process; and

(2)          agrees, that, subject to the compliance with the Council’s Officer Employment Procedure Rules, agrees that Colette Dutton be appointed to the post of Director of Children’s Services from a date to be agreed.
